Advisory - Capability Development
V-TOL has the specialist experience required to make unmanned systems capability development straight forward for effective and sustainable RPA/UAS operations. V-TOL provides professional consultation services that address the three (3) pillars required to reach and maintain operational readiness. V-TOL can provide recommendations and or deliver a comprehensive solution for the organisation adopting and implementing unmanned systems technologies.
Education and Training
To successfully adopt new technology an organisation must enable and foster organisational learning. For the individual operating or supporting RPA/UAS technology will require qualifying as a certified RPA/UAS pilot or maintainer. To enable the learning process and qualify the individual in RPA/UAS, V-TOL has established and incorporated the Australian Unmanned Systems Academy (AUSA).
With first class teaching and pilot flight testing facilities at Archerfield Aerodrome for Level 1 Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) instruction and the V-TOL Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) 40 km2 Flight Operations Area within the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Amberley controlled airspace operating from of the Woodlands of Marburg conference centre, V-TOL through AUSA and its unique relationship with the Royal Queensland Aero Club is well positioned to offer and deliver the industry standard "ab initio" and type certification Level 2-3 RPA/UAS flight training services to its customers
To achieve effective and sustainable UAS operations an appropriate level of knowledge and proficiency is required from the most junior RPA/UAS pilot and maintainer to the most senior organisation decision-maker. In partnership with The University of Queensland and the Royal Queensland Aero Club's Airline Academy of Australia (AAA), V-TOL is creating a world class "learning community" and "centre of excellence" in RPA and UAS education and training.

Product Development
In addition to designing, developing and manufacturing its own products, V-TOL can provide advanced product development capabilities to existing and new industry stakeholders.
From minor modifications and testing to existing RPA/UAS systems through to a fully programmed UATAR based solution, V-TOL's aeronautical and electronic engineers can deliver timely results.
With the support of other V-TOL Group Service capabilities, an RPA/UAS product can be taken from concept to commercialisation at a realistic cost on time.
Flight Services(U-AOC 1-3IRFZ-02)
Flight Services (UFS) operating under CASA Unmanned Aircraft Operating Certificate (U-AOC) 1-3IRFZ-02 is the RPA/UAS flight services arm of V-TOL Aerospace. V-TOL UFS provides the following services:
- Contracted V-TOL RPA and UAS product and licensed RPA Flight Services
- V-TOL RPA technology, maintenance and product flight testing
- RPA/UAS Flight support to UATAR Projects
- RPA/UAS flight training support services to the Australian Unmanned Systems Academy (AUSA)
- 3rd party contracted flight services under license
Flight Facilities (Archerfield and Marburg)
With RPA and UAS flight training and testing areas at Archerfield Aerodrome (within the City of Brisbane metropolitan area) and the Woodlands of Marburg conference facility (40 minutes drive west of Brisbane), V-TOL has access to two convenient and "fit" for purpose mini-RPA and UAS (<10kg mass) flight Operations Areas and Launch and Recovery Facilities (LRF).
To ensure customers have access to operational airspace with beyond line of sight (BLOS) capabilities for advanced training and testing for mini-RPA and UAS operations, V-TOL has exclusive access to the 40km2 RPA/UA Flight Area of Operations (FAO) 10km Northwest of RAAF Base Amberley, Australia's largest Air Force Base.
With the ability to operate within military and civilian controlled airspace, the V-TOL FAO provides the opportunity to train students in unmanned operations within manned airspace to CASA 101 and military standards. The V-TOL primary LRF within the FAO includes a grass airfield and adjacent hardstand facilities.
Maintenance and Technical Support
The operational health and regulatory acceptance of the UAS, including - airframe platform, payloads, data-links, avionics, ground control station and software, are the subject and addressed by the Maintenance System Documentation. The level of practical detail balanced with accountability will decide the systems reliability outcome.
It is critical that the documentation is developed to enable technicians and systems engineers the most effective pathway for maintaining operational reliability without sacrificing safety. To operate safely and legally, organisations are required to operate within the rules of the regulator(s). V-TOL Aviation Engineers will advise and assist customers in navigating the required pathway to ensure on-going compliance with their selected RPA and UAS platforms.
Operational Support
V-TOL offers "Through Life Support" options covering technical support, systems maintenance basic and advanced training, compliance and risk management, insurance, applications research and development of UAV Standard Operating Procedures.
From the analysis process, doctrine can be written so that methodology and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will "fit" the chosen technology for the intended missions. Through a continuous 360 degree review process involving our technology partners, company members and other end-users, V-TOL customers will benefit from improvements in technology and operational procedures.
Research & Development
UATAR™ Unmanned Autonomous Technology Applications Research) is V-TOL's applied research and development (R&D) platform established and incorporated to provide a structured and project based creative learning and proofing environment for rapid commercial outcomes.
In partnership with industry and project stakeholders, the primary aim of a UATAR™ project is to create valuable IP that can be licensed to industry or developed into a viable standalone business.
UATAR™ provides an R&D forum with global reach to realise the benefits of an evolving "learning community" in unmanned systems. A successful outcome will foster and contribute to the commercial uptake and proliferation of unmanned and autonomous systems technologies.

Support Services
Regulatory compliance is the key to uninhibited on-going commercial operations. V-TOL has the expertise to assist organisations in understanding current requirements and plan for future developments in UA regulations. By pursuing the correct pathway from the commencement of the capability development process will result in short and long-term cost effective outcomes.
Insurance coverage for commercial UAS operations is mandatory. In partnership with QBE Insurance, V-TOL can assist its customers in packaging the appropriate level of insurance protection, including: flight operations, training, hull, hangar, and liability cover.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is required by all individuals and organisations that operate Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for commercial gain purposes. V-TOL has the expertise to assist in developing the appropriate level of documentation for gaining aCASA issued U-AOC.
Certification of UAS products will enable manufacturers of UAS to supply regulator approved products on the same terms as manned aircraft manufactures. V-TOL has the expertise to assist manufacturers of UAS to commence the certification pathway.
