Gordon is a graduate of the Australian Army Command and Staff College, Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) and the Royal Military College, Duntroon. During his military career Gordon served in a number of land force roles, including conventional and special operations, protective security and strategic support roles. He has served and worked in various locations in the Middle East including Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Jordan, Iraq and the UAE as well as the Asia Pacific regions.
Gordon has a broad operational background with comprehensive leadership experience. Over the past 20 years he has held a variety of management and leadership appointments. Since leaving the military, these roles have included:
- Managing Operations in Brisbane City Council's Local Disaster Coordination Centre during the January 2011 Brisbane Floods;
- Coordinating responses to the November 2008 'Gap Storms';
- Consulting as 'Observer-Trainer-Mentor' to the Australian Army's Operational Headquarters preparing for deployment; and
- As Country Manager Iraq for Unity Resources Group (based in Baghdad with over 500 personnel) managing post-war recovery contracts and operations based in various locations across Iraq.
Gordon brings to V-TOL an extensive and unique combination of experience from the military, private and local government sectors. Gordon has a strong knowledge of business intelligence collection and analysis for effective planning, and operational decision making.
